Last time I'm baking Gingerbread Men...

When I was a kid, I was petrified of Gremlins (1984) and even now at 26 they still freak me out.

The scene where one of the evil little bastards is eating the Gingerbread Men, had such an impact on me that I won't even eat a Gingerbread Man. Imagine walking into the kitchen to find one of them, much worse than Freddy Kruger, Leather Face and IT the Clown if you ask me!

As much as I  tried to over come my fear by putting this piece together, it didn't work.

Hell's Spawn

Resisting the temptation to spend hours adding tone texture and lighting,

I've given Spawn the flat approach, using only black to suggest the shadows.

The time I saved colouring should have been spent on making this an action shot rather than the typical - 

'standing there looking cool' pose.

Style Stalking

The New Wold Vulture contains seven species in five genera, all but one of which are monotypic. It includes five vultures and two condors found in stylish and unique areas of the Brain.

A desire to rock clothing that nobody else can. Unique limited production is a necessity to the ideals that the exclusive Culture Vulture Clothing line offer.

Red...

During the colour process I was running with the Red, diverting from my original vision, the Red created good contrast and complimented the organic texture. As much as love the direction I'm taking this piece its just not true to what I originally imagined.

The most inspiring design in balling sneakers i picked up were at Nike Town NYC 1997. 

Since wearing them out I've managed to get my hands on another pair. (Above)

So inspired by the design and material of the shoe I wanted to design a character that appeared if it  were to be made of the same materials and style used on the shoe. (Below)  

Unsure as to whether I'm going to make it organic or bionic. Surrealist form of the Anatomy will defiantly be the defining characteristic in this piece.

Inspired by Flight Club, the smooth flow of a showboater.

The second image was originally drawn without as many arms. 

Casting back to University Life Drawing class, the Model would hold a pose giving you five minutes to capture the figure on paper. Then she would adjust the position of her arms every two minutes giving motion to your work.

I loved to draw like that, forcing you to plan your work ahead, allowing space and depth to judge the position of the next arm movement.

Getting back to the Android Baller with a crazy cross.

Should he have as many arms?

Should he be bouncing the ball so fast that he appears to have as many arms?

These will be answered in the colouring process, coming soon…

So I have a few Ideas that I would like to cross Basketball with some surrealism/futurism, with maybe some cool robot stuff...


But first I gotta get the pose right.

EMINEM- Shady Comics

Since listening to EMINEM back in 1999, to me, he has always painted such a clear series of stories with his lyrics, so dense with a vibrant content of comic violence. Doubting myself as an artist, I never could portray his lyrics as I see them and do it any kind of justice. But now sick to death at the fact that Eminem has not yet had his own comic title. With the infinite stories he has given over the years that would make for perfect comic literature. Shady Comics could be a new dawn for Hip Hop and Comic fans. Am I getting lost in what I would like to see? I just wanna see him loose his mind again, but as a comic book character this time!!

HULK VS

I finally got around to watching 'Hulk Vs', a DVD with not one but two fantastic titles, Hulk Vs Thor & Hulk Vs Wolverine. As much as I enjoyed Thor, the Wolverine feature was much better, with the original Weapon-X cast, its great to see them all animated. A fantastic storyline that brings the comics to life, much better than all the live action features if you ask me! With character designs by Jeff Matsuda this is a must have. I look forward to more released from the Marvel Animated Team.
