EMINEM- Shady Comics

Since listening to EMINEM back in 1999, to me, he has always painted such a clear series of stories with his lyrics, so dense with a vibrant content of comic violence. Doubting myself as an artist, I never could portray his lyrics as I see them and do it any kind of justice. But now sick to death at the fact that Eminem has not yet had his own comic title. With the infinite stories he has given over the years that would make for perfect comic literature. Shady Comics could be a new dawn for Hip Hop and Comic fans. Am I getting lost in what I would like to see? I just wanna see him loose his mind again, but as a comic book character this time!!
This image was drawn and inked traditionally and coloured digitally.

$2 Fight Tournament - Character Design

'MF-KC' is an orignal character that I have designed to be entered in 2010 $2 Fight Tournament. A good friend of mine, Leigh Way (http://lawaycartoons.blogspot.com/) runs the tournament on Deviant art, where it is a knockout style competition where the winnings are split 80%-20% between the two fighter remaining. HULK VS

I finally got around to watching 'Hulk Vs', a DVD with not one but two fantastic titles, Hulk Vs Thor & Hulk Vs Wolverine. As much as I enjoyed Thor, the Wolverine feature was much better, with the original Weapon-X cast, its great to see them all animated. A fantastic storyline that brings the comics to life, much better than all the live action features if you ask me! With character designs by Jeff Matsuda this is a must have. I look forward to more released from the Marvel Animated Team.

BRAIN DOOM

DOOM RETURNS!

Though it would make a funky cross-over.

With Doom being my favourite villain, I had to get an evil representative for Brainfood.

Sketch Dump

With a great start to 2010 I find myself caught up in ideas, designs and Basketball. The season is going great, so is the freelance work and personal projects. I'm working on some exciting stuff that I cant wait to post, until then...

Angel of Vengeance

Taking me 10 hours to paint, I finally got there. Not painting to industry standard yet but I'm working on it. The idea behind this is that the Angel of Vengeance is the only survivor from his company. After running out of ammo this is not enough to stop him, in his wake destroyed Chaos Space Marines lie. I originally went with Tyranids but they did not seem to fit. Also I had some drop pods raining form the clouds but I wanted his solitude to be the focus. Unscathed this marine is in line for a promotion, his attitude remains focused and ruthless - "Serve the Emperor today, for tomorrow you may be dead".

SPACE MARINE

Taking it back to my childhood, I was a big fan of the Games Workshop. I preferred to model and paint the miniatures although I did get into gaming for a while. More specifically I love Space Marines and the whole world of Warhammer 40k I find so fascinating. I was a huge fan of the Blood Angels collecting an entire army (hate to think how much it cost my parents at the time). Anyways more to the point, been looking into some of the fantastic 40k Illustrations and its inspired me to go back to my child hood. I've decided to digitally paint a Space Marine. As there are so many chapters all so interesting deciding which one I found somewhat difficult. Rather than the choice of Blood Angels I was swayed into Dark Angels but after browsing I decided to go with Angels of Vengeance. Here is the sketch for now, colours coming soon...

Samurai Fury (I had a Dream Continued)

Samurai Fury, the name influenced from the RZA more specifically 'Take the Sword Pt.III' (Afro Samurai Resurrection OST), 'Mantis' 'Holocaust' (RZA as Bobby Digital in Stereo). I'm pleased with the turnout as it is almost exactly how I imagined the character although it is lacking dynamic. I think I may cover this with some action sheets. I struggled with the lighting initially but with some help form the guys at work, they threw in some suggestion on how the character could be more defined through rim lighting etc. This led to me adding two extra lanterns in the background. I wanted the burning red sky to be so vibrant as this suggests the fury with in the character. As for the gun on his arm I was going to add some spent shells on the ground and some smoke off the barrel but the Samurai did not use the gun, he barely use his sword. I wanted his sheer presence to be so dominating because if there had been an suggestion of combat then it would have hinted to what actually happened in the fight, which I wanted to remain a mystery, until next time...

I had a Dream...

So with my ever lasting influence form Wu-Tang and with the recent release of Tekken 6 I find myself dreaming of a 3 round fight with a brutal Samurai who has a massive Tec Nine attached to his arm. After some blood shed, crazy acrobatics and a funky HipHop beat I manage to tie it at one a piece on the second round. Bruised, bloodied and almost beaten as the beginning of the 3rd kicks off I get this annoying ringing noise in my ear, ah the Samurai has some voodoo magic to throw off my concentration, stunned and disorientated I seize the opportunity for the winning blow, but then I soon realize its my alarm clock that knocked my concentration and so another day begins...

I will probably never know what the result was to the vicious battle but every time I look at this picture, I'll know... It 'aint over punk!

Here is the process of how I visualized the character within my dream.

Above The Clouds

With all the excitement of my new job I've been struggling to post updates! Although I have been staying on top of my personal work. The inspiration that I'm feeding off in work feels surreal, not only am I working on a great project, I'm working with a fantastic team.

In the haze of my dream job I have accumulated a stack of sketches, so I'm doing my best to get them up on here. But for now I'll leave you with an illustration that depicts my life right now.

The Tortoise and The Hare

The Tortoise and The Hare takes you on a small adventure that follows the taste buds of a happy go lucky Tortoise. This modern take on the original tale was inspired by a turn of events in my life that suggests fate is subconsciously controlled by the individuals morals and perspectives on life. This comic strip is brought to you by StayFly, a company thats promotes imagination and represents all the flavours that life has to offer.
